| Kevin Todd Rew pleaded no
contest in February and was found guilty of two felony counts of attempted sexual
exploitation of a child. On Thursday, Johnson County District Judge Peter Ruddick sentenced Rew to 13 months in prison, but followed state sentencing guidelines and granted Rew probation for two years. The judge ordered the 30 days in jail as a probation condition. The time is in addition to 25 days Rew had spent in jail. The judge also ordered Rew, 33, to have no unsupervised contact with children under 18 while on probation. And he informed Rew that he would be required to register as a sex offender with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The mother of a 16-year-old girl who was photographed by Rew when she was 13 told the judge Thursday that Rew's actions had turned their lives "topsy-turvy." Rew is facing trial in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of statutory s o d o m y and sexual misconduct involving the same girl, according to Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Scott Toth. Defense attorney Carl Cornwell said those charges are being "vigorously defended." Toth said investigators had found "many, many" pictures on his computer of
